Frequently Asked Questions 🎮

Everything you need to know about Game & Learn, Minecraft access, Friday Club, trial visits, and choosing the right membership for your learner.

About Game & Learn

What is Game & Learn?

Game & Learn is an online community where kids can connect through gaming, creativity, shared interests, and collaborative activities.

We use Minecraft, games, creative projects, challenges, and live group experiences to give learners a place where they can explore interests, build friendships, and learn through play.

What ages is Game & Learn for?

Game & Learn is designed for school-age learners and young teens. Because comfort level, gaming experience, and social needs vary from student to student, families are welcome to start with a Trial Visit if they are unsure whether the community is the right fit.

Is Game & Learn only for neurodivergent learners?

No. Game & Learn welcomes learners with many different personalities, learning styles, communication styles, and interests.

Our approach is intentionally flexible and interest-driven, which can be especially helpful for neurodivergent learners, but no diagnosis is required to participate.

Minecraft & Technology

Does my child need to be experienced with Minecraft?

No. Beginners are welcome. Learners do not need to know every Minecraft mechanic before joining, and we can help them get comfortable with the basics and understand how to access the worlds.

Do we need Minecraft Java or Bedrock?

Game & Learn supports participation based on the worlds and activities available for each program.

During enrollment or your Trial Visit, we will ask whether your learner uses Minecraft Java or Minecraft Bedrock so we can make sure they are set up correctly.

If you are not sure which version you have, that is completely okay. We can help you figure it out.

What technology do we need?

Your learner will generally need:

  • A computer or compatible device
  • Reliable internet access
  • Minecraft for programs involving Minecraft
  • Access to the communication platform used for live activities

Specific setup instructions will be provided after enrollment.

What if we are having technical problems?

Please reach out. Gaming technology is not always cooperative, and technical issues happen. We will do our best to help families troubleshoot access to Game & Learn worlds and activities.

Memberships & Programs

What is Minecraft World Access?

World Access gives learners access to Game & Learn's private Minecraft community worlds.

Learners can build, explore, collaborate, work on long-term projects, participate in optional challenges, and spend time with other members of the community.

World Access is designed to be flexible. Learners can choose how they want to spend their time rather than having to complete the same activity as everyone else.

What is Friday Club?

Friday Club is our live weekly Game & Learn experience. Activities rotate throughout the month and may include:

  • Games
  • Creative projects
  • STEM activities
  • Collaborative challenges
  • Building
  • Problem-solving
  • Social activities
  • Interest-based projects

Every Friday can look a little different.

What is included with All Access?

All Access includes the complete Game & Learn experience:

  • Access to Game & Learn community Minecraft worlds
  • Friday Club programming
  • Games, challenges, projects, and social activities
  • The learner's own custom Minecraft world
What is a custom Minecraft world?

All Access members receive their own Minecraft world that they can develop around their interests and have control over.

A learner might create a city, survival world, fantasy kingdom, adventure map, roleplay setting, giant building project, or something completely different.

The goal is to give learners a space where they can take ownership of an idea and continue developing it over time.

Trial Visits

What is a Trial Visit?

A Trial Visit is a 30–45 minute guided Game & Learn experience for families who want to see what the community is like before enrolling.

Your learner can explore a demo Minecraft world, meet us, ask questions, build, play, and get comfortable with how Game & Learn works.

The Trial Visit costs $25. If you enroll in World Access, Friday Club, or All Access within 7 days, we will apply your $25 Trial Visit fee toward enrollment.

Participation & Community

What if my child is shy or does not want to talk much?

That is okay. Learners are encouraged to participate in ways that feel comfortable for them.

Some students love talking immediately. Others prefer to explore quietly, type in chat, watch for a while, or participate gradually. We want learners to have opportunities to connect without feeling pressured to perform socially.

Does my child have to be on camera?

No. Game & Learn is designed to allow flexibility in how learners participate. Being off camera is okay.

Are there required assignments?

Generally, no. Game & Learn is built around exploration and interest-driven participation.

There may be optional quests, challenges, community projects, or themed activities, but learners are encouraged to choose experiences that genuinely interest them.

Friday Club includes more guided activities, while World Access gives learners more freedom to choose what they want to do.

Can students work together on builds?

Absolutely. Collaboration is a big part of Game & Learn.

Students can work together on community projects, help with builds, share ideas, explore together, or create their own projects. Learners can also choose to work independently when they want quieter creative time.

Safety & Community Expectations

How is the Minecraft community kept safe?

Our Minecraft spaces are private and intended for enrolled Game & Learn learners.

We emphasize:

  • Respectful communication
  • Kindness
  • Collaboration
  • Digital safety
  • Respect for other people's builds and creations

Intentionally destroying another learner's work is not acceptable. Mistakes can happen in Minecraft, though. If a build is accidentally damaged, we focus on repairing it together and solving the problem.
